In the summer 2010 and 2011 I went on mission trips with Mentor Leaders, a humanitarian organization who focuses on bringing clean drinking water, education, self-sustainability, and the word of Jesus Christ to the people of Africa. We traveled to a small village in the country of Togo called Gbentchal (pronounced “Ben-jaal”), which is among the poorest in the entire country, neglected by their own government. Teams came in all throughout the summer to build a school for the orphans, a house for the new pastor, plant crops, and do whatever else was needed. It was truly a life changing experience and I cannot wait to go back, hopefully soon.
